When the University of Tampa baseball team has struggled this season, it has been their defense that has let them down. Last weekend the Spartans made some changes defensively, moving the sure-handed Ryan Kennedy to shortstop and Roberto Mena to second base.

Roberto Mena, drafted out of high school, turned down the Mariners to play college ball. He has been to community college in Miami and Texas. Since transferring to Tampa, he has become a major part of the Spartans' national championship team.
