On this New Year's Eve (2008-2009), I did not go out to party and celebrate like most people around the world did, instead I went to the downtown of Ramallah, Palestine to protest against Israeli attacks on Gaza. Most of my winter break I spent my time shifting between the television and internet, trying to get a feel of the reality of what was going on in the Gaza Strip, and spreading as much of what I know to my friends here in the U.S. Hundreds, including many children, had already been killed in less than three days of ruthless Israeli air raids.

She was his 'Beetle' and he was her 'Prince William.' She is Barbra Bush, Will King's girlfriend. On Wednesday, April 29 King collided with a Toyota SUV heading toward Davis Island on Hyde Park Avenue just south of Kennedy Blvd. They met at the Retreat and Dubliner, not far from where King passed away. He happened to be a friend of a best friend in the nursing program.

The Obama administration's decision to release the torture memos has created a fury of discussion over whether or not the release of the memos was proper. By admitting to violating both national and international law in the use and practice of torture, has the United States government's goal of greater transparency allowed us to open up dialogue and reconstruct our trust with other state actors, or has the release of the memos created more anger in the international community over U.S. actions that were carried out during the Bush administration? The Minaret asked University of Tampa students for their opinions.
