Books, Cafeteria, and University Housing High on Cost, Low on Value

By Books, Cafeteria, and University Housing High on Cost, Low on Value

Once again students face the horrible task of selling back their books to the huge thief they call the book store. However, while you are ripped off again, I suggest for next semester you purchase books online or through other bookstores

What is a ghetto? Some say it's a place of endless deprivation with few resources. But I wonder if this is true. When asking the common man to define 'ghetto,' they normally associate it with poverty, which is frowned upon by society. However, the association of the word ghetto with a place is one which has harmed many people and generations. A place is just a place, if it can be categorized as ghetto or not. For example, whether you move people out of the ghetto and place them in an affluent neighborhood, then they may call their new abode a ghetto. ' "

Contemporary Life Requires Men To Step Up

#comment 2 :I see and hear what you are saying...the men of this society have lost their ways...they talk about respect and honor but they use it in the wrong form...they see respect and honor as instilling fear into people by killing the ones that disrespect them and not talking to them...it takes a man to apology and admit when he's wrong...we men try to find the easy way out in life...staying in school and studying for 3-5 years is too long to make the money when you can go on the side of the road and sell some drugs and make twice the amount in 5 times the time it'll take you to work for it in a regular job with a degree or master...we are too busy looking at the fast lane to see the bigger picture...as on old saying goes...slow and steady wins the race...the role models we have now are to few

Food for Thought: Spartan

#comment 2 :I am not surprised by the cafeteria attendant's ignorance. This is not the first time I have heard of them telling a student ridiculous things. I'm a commuter and last semester I was on the "commuter meal plan", meaning I could only eat in the caf and have no meal exchanges. From time to time, I got my meal in a to go box. Then one random night I was informed by the cashier I "wasn't allowed" to get a to go box. I decided I would eat somewhere else, but she would not refund my meal. It was refunded a week later only after I complained to the head manager. Students shouldn't be limited on the amount or type of they can take. This issue needs to be resolved and soon--I want two apples after dinner tonight...

African Student’s Challenge to the Black Community

By African Student’s Challenge to the Black Community

#comment 2 :To Mel@Howard. I would not go around broadcasting that. You are not portraying a good image for the school of Howard. Your post appears to make you look like an ill-informed loud person. The exact image that this young man speaks of. You're post was full of grammatical errors and broad sweeping conclusions. Which is typically what a stereotype would do. In you rush to put yourself above others and condemn behaviors you became the very stereotype you initially sought out to condemn. And to the author. You make valid points, but please realize you are an outsider looking in. You did not grow up here, you do not know what the black struggle is. Your commentary had many valid points, which I myself have siad in private conversations, but the message you are trying to get across really gets drowned out by your tone. You came here looked at the community and judged us. Your commentary would be similar to my looking at the state of Africa and passing judgement on the continent by what the world would be like in an idealized system where everyone started on equal footing and played by the rules.
