The Retreat to Continue Liquor Sales

Posted July 14 2009 at 8:50 am | Updated August 26th, 2009 at 8:08 pm

It seems UT students will still have a place to run to close to campus if they want to grab a drink.

The Tampa City Council met about the issue on Thursday allowing The Retreat to continue hard liquor sales.

A 6-0 vote in the City Council was reported by Tampabay.com.

UT officials have been fighting The Retreat since it reopened and began selling liquor.

Proprietors of the business reported that the location had been selling liquor since 1945, but did not have the liquor license to prove it.

Instead a photo taken of the bar in 1946 by the Burgert Brothers became the main evidence of liquor sales according to Tampabay.com. Consequently, it was enough for the City Council members to make their decision.
