A University of Georgia student broke his neck when he dived into the water just moments before. The student’s friends initially thought he was joking when he was lying in the chilly water, history senior Martin Newman said. Sawyer said he helped bring the student to shore and administered CPR.

In an attack early Saturday morning, improvised explosives were hurled at the off-campus apartment of Yossi Knafo, an emissary from the Jewish Agency for Israel employed by Brown University/RISD Hillel. Knafo was home at the time but unharmed by the attack.

When Devon Herrick, a junior, awoke to screams of ‘fire’ early Sunday morning, she said she thought that it was just drunk people messing around. But when she got up to check on the situation after the screams got louder, she was amazed by what she saw. ‘The rooms were completely clouded in smoke. People were jumping off balconies,’ Herrick said.
