Learning the "Charleston," shooting soda-can rockets and playing soccer don't sound like activities typically done in most college classes. However, in Dr. John Bertalan's "Foundations of American Education" class, the reverse is true. He has been teaching this course for over twenty years and enjoys being taught by his students.
Inter-Fraternity Council handed down sanctions to Kappa Sigma fraternity two weeks ago for violating sections of the Interfraternity Council Recruitment Guidelines. The fraternity, which was recently allowed back on campus after serving previous violations, appealed the sanctions due to the unconstitutional manner in which the sanctions were presented.
We are pleased to announce that the Global Village Simulation (GVS) will be held on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Cass Building gymnasium. Two simulations will be run, one in the morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and one in the afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.
Most community service projects are aimed at helping a single group or cause at a time. At the First Annual Black Student Union Day of Service, however, volunteers will be able to help five area locations simultaneously. Open to members of all organizations interested in "joining the fun and helping make a difference in the Tampa Bay community," the day of service will take place on Saturday, Sept.
One of the more interesting trends at UT has nothing to do with what people are wearing, saying or watching. It actually has everything to do with what they're writing. Applicants to UT and across the country are choosing not to denote their race on applications.
Dear Editor, In response to Professor Deneault's letter I would like to point out a few things. I agree it is the student's prerogative to dislike the current administration of the U.S. and even to "find common cause with the Iranian regime." However I do wish to enlighten those who agree with the Professor of Chemistry and Physics.
The student body appears to be divided in terms of being satisfied with how financial aid is distributed here at the university. When choosing a college to attend, financial assistance is high on the list for most. Second-year UT student Stephanie Dutka choose the University of Tampa because more financial aid was given to her in comparison to the other state schools she applied to.
Complaints and grumblings about not being informed arose out of the Kennedy Place dorm situation this semester. Students complained that they didn't know what the rooms would be like, nor did they know the floor plan or the building design. Yet Residence Life claims that announcements were made at Student Government meetings and by design boards being placed throughout the campus.

More than 30 people were in Mirta's Gallery and Coffeehouse on Hyde Park Ave. last week to enjoy the "funky and acoustic" musical sounds of Justin Kline and Mike Copper. Some were there with their laptops, making good use of the wireless internet provided, while others enjoyed delicious coffee, but it was clear that everyone there wanted to experience the unique sounds of the two.
Based on a true story about writer and director Dito Montiel, "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" chronicles the life of Mortiel. who was once a kid struggling to stay alive in the streets of Queens, NY. According to Cinematical.com, in 1986 Montiel went against his fathers wishes, left home and headed for California.
Student Productions put on a great show Wednesday Sept. 19 when they invited Evan Wexler and Dan Levy to entertain UT. Now, if you haven't heard of these two guys, have no fear, because before the 19th, neither had I. Here's a little background information: Evan Wexler, the opening act, has appeared on VH1's "I love the 70s" mini-series.
On Sunday, Sept. 24, the Lady Spartans picked up an important conference win over the Florida Tech Panthers. For the second time in two games, the team had a player score a hat trick. SSC Player of the Week Shelbi Kuni led the team with her three goals and one assist.
